"There can be no question of other sacrifices for sin, for our salvation has been achieved by Christ's unique sacrifice; our sacrifices are sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving"
- John Stott, The Incomparable Christ
One of my personal experience of sacrificing and giving myself to God is by the means of FASTING. Giving up food is an outward action for me for an inward commitment. As Ezra 8:23 says, "So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer." It requires sacrifice and discipline.
I know that the purpose in fasting for God is not about giving up food; it is about removing the obstacles that get in the way of fully focusing on Him. We human beings are conditioned to eat, usually 3 meals a day and snacks. We are so focused on what we are going to eat next, we leave very little room in our minds for thinking about God. Removing the food free up my mind so I can meditate more freely on God.
Fasting for God is sacrificing something that is important to me. Surrendering to God means giving of myself for Him. I cry out, "All of you, none of me." Fasting tears down my strongholds, fasting causes divine power to loose the chains of injustice and sets the captive free. A fast for God ushers in every ministering spirit to go forth on my behalf bringing solutions to my every problem.
Many things changed. (1) I noticed how much easier it was to enter and sense the presence of God. I did not have to pray as long or as fervent to break through into that other realm and sense His tangible presence as He flooded my prayer closet. (2) I become closer and more intimate with the Lord. (3) For God's grace, power and favor to increase upon my family. (4) For a greater anointing upon my life and ministry.
For me, The Bible is the authoritative, infallible, and inspired Word of GOD. I believe that I can use the Bible for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness because GOD's words are just and righteous. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
God made a sacrifice no man is ready to make. We should serve God with all our heart. I thank God for His great sacrifice giving His Son as a gift of salvation to all of us. Glory to GOD.
Be Blessed everyone!
